The verdict

Clean Eatz Kitchen wins for most people who want macro-labeled meals at a price they can keep paying. Our meal plans run about $7.56 to $10.50 a meal, ship free and keep up to 12 months frozen. Icon Meals lists plans from $11.39 to $14.09 a meal plus shipping ($9.99 at checkout in October 2026), but it wins on protein: its signature menu has a median of 43.5g per meal and tops out at 91g.

Both companies sell ready-made meals to people who train. You heat, you eat, you log the macros. The difference is what you pay for. Icon builds bigger plates and ships them fresh. We build portion-controlled plates and ship them frozen, for less.

Icon Meals vs Clean Eatz Kitchen verdict

Who wins for most people

We picked a winner by asking what changes your week: what a meal really costs once shipping is in, how much protein is on the plate, how big you can go, and how long the food keeps.

We lead on price, free shipping and freezer life. Icon Meals leads on protein per plate and portion control down to the ounce. Those two wins are real, and they matter most to big lifters.

If you want 30 to 45g of protein a meal, we cover it for about $3 to $6 less per meal. If you want 50g or more in one sitting, Icon has more plates built for that.

  • Price per meal, with shipping added
  • Protein per meal across the whole menu, not one hero dish
  • Portion options for bigger appetites and bigger targets
  • Format and storage: fresh or frozen, and how long it keeps
  • Ordering terms: minimums, subscriptions, where it ships

Icon Meals vs Clean Eatz Kitchen category breakdown

Row by row

The table gives the quick answer. This breakdown explains each category, including the two where Icon Meals comes out ahead.

Both companies sell high protein meals, so the split comes down to how much protein you want per plate and what you will pay for it.

Price & value per meal

Winner: Clean Eatz Kitchen

Icon prices its plans by the box. Get Lean and Keto are $138 for 12 meals and $205 for 18. The ICON Meal Plan is $144 and $209. Extreme Protein is $169 and $249. Its checkout showed $9.99 shipping in October 2026, and that rate may vary. Shipped orders need at least 8 meals.

Our High Protein Meal Plan is $63.00 for 6, $115.92 for 12 and $158.76 for 18, about $10.50 down to $8.82 a meal. The Weight Loss Meal Plan goes as low as $7.56 a meal at 30 meals. Shipping is free on every meal plan.

Quick cost example

Say you want 18 meals this week. Our High Protein Meal Plan is $158.76, shipped free, about $8.82 a meal. Icon's ICON Meal Plan is $209 plus $9.99 shipping (its October 2026 checkout rate), $218.99, about $12.17 a meal. Its Extreme Protein plan is $249 plus $9.99, $258.99, about $14.39 a meal. That is $60.23 and $100.23 more per week. With Icon's 5% Subscribe & Save price, the gaps are still about $50 and $88.

High protein meals & macros

Winner: Icon Meals

This one goes to Icon Meals. Its 26 signature meals run 12g to 91g of protein with a median of 43.5g, and 24 of them have at least 30g. Our current menu runs 20g to 55g across 32 meals, with a median of 31.5g. Per plate, Icon simply serves more.

Per meal is not the whole story, though. The ISSN position stand on protein suggests 1.4 to 2.0g of protein per kilogram of body weight a day for people who exercise, in doses of about 20 to 40g every 3 to 4 hours. Most of our menu lands in that range, and 14 of our meals pair 30g+ of protein with fewer than 500 calories. See our High-protein meals under 500 calories.

Bodybuilding meal prep & portion options

Winner: Icon Meals

For bodybuilding meal prep, portion control by the ounce is Icon's best feature. Its custom meal builder lets you choose 11 proteins at 3 to 8 oz, a carb side from 1/4 cup to 2 cups and a second side from 2 to 8 oz. Chicken breast alone showed $8.40 at 3 oz and $12.40 at 8 oz before sides. It also sells cooked proteins, carbs and vegetables in bulk.

Our answer is simpler. The High Protein Meal Plan adds 2 oz of meat to each recipe, and Build A Meal Plan's 41g+ filter shows our biggest plates. For a 90 kg (about 200 lb) lifter, the ISSN range works out to about 126 to 180g of protein a day. Four of our meals at 32 to 45g covers it. Icon's 50g+ plates get there in three.

Flexibility, taste & format

Winner: Clean Eatz Kitchen

We can't score taste without a test, so we didn't. Format is easier to judge. Icon's meals arrive fresh, which some people prefer, but you have 7 days to eat them or freeze them, for up to 6 months. Deliveries usually land Tuesday to Friday.

Ours arrive frozen and keep up to 12 months from the production date, and thawed meals keep 3 to 4 days. The FDA says freezing does not reduce nutrients. No subscription, free shipping and a freezer you fill once give us the edge here.

Icon Meals vs Clean Eatz Kitchen FAQ

Your questions

Short answers to the questions we hear most from people weighing Icon Meals against our meals.

Is an Icon Meals review positive overall?

We don't summarize, quote or score customer reviews for either company, so we can't call the overall tone. What we can share is what the company publishes: 26 signature meals with a median of 43.5g of protein, plans from $11.39 to $14.09 a meal, and $9.99 shipping at checkout in October 2026, which may vary. Check any review you read against those numbers.

Which service is better for meal prep for athletes?

It depends on your daily target. Most active adults do well with 20 to 40g of protein per meal, spread across the day, and our menu covers that for less money. Larger athletes who want 50g+ per plate get more of those meals from Icon.

Are high protein frozen meals as good as fresh?

For nutrition, yes. The FDA says freezing does not reduce nutrients and that protein value changes very little in the freezer. Texture and flavor can slip the longer food sits frozen, which is why we date our meals 12 months from production.
