What happened to Fresh N Lean
A sudden stop in July 2024
Fresh N Lean was founded in 2010, was based in Anaheim, California, and grew into a popular ready-to-eat meal service. The Orange County Business Journal put its revenue at about $118 million for the year ended June 2022. That fall it cut 353 jobs at its Anaheim plant as it moved part of its operations out of California.
On Thursday, July 11, 2024, the company posted a notice at the top of its homepage. It said that after 14 years of service, Fresh N Lean had been suddenly forced to shut down by lenders. A longer note on the same page said a lender had bought the company's debt, removed its principals, and decided overnight to let 300 employees go and liquidate the business. CNET reported the shutdown by the next day, noting that the ordering links already returned a 404 error.
We checked again on October 20, 2026. The Fresh N Lean domain returns a hosting error page, and company databases list it as having ceased operations in July 2024. The fresh n lean searches people still run every month lead to a service that no longer exists, which is why we wrote this guide.

Fresh N Lean's come from copies of its website saved by the Internet Archive between May and July 2024, the last months it took orders. We don't rate either service. We compared five things:

Its site in 2024 described fresh n lean meals as organically sourced, non-GMO and gluten-free, cooked from scratch and never frozen. It offered more than 100 menu items a week across seven plans, and it let you exclude up to three ingredients from any plan.
The plans were the real draw. Protein+ averaged 36 g of protein and 490 calories per meal. Keto averaged 30 g of protein, 10 g of net carbs and 460 calories. Paleo averaged 33 g of protein and 400 calories, Whole30 31 g and 430 calories, and Mediterranean 25 g and 446 calories. If you ate keto or paleo from a box, Fresh N Lean did the planning for you.
